Q-49 Anna Nagar is the residence of the Kurian’s, known for its cherished history of hospitality and elaborate spreads.

It all started in 2009. Upon his first return to India, Renu’s son was visibly homesick and missing his mother’s home-cooked food. While he expressed his desire to learn some of his favourite recipes, he quickly admitted that no matter how hard he tried, he could never recreate the flavours of home. In her quick wits and experience, she was able to formulate small packs of curry pastes in Ziplocs to help solve her sons desire for home cooked meals. These curry pastes were a boon to her daughter too who had moved to the USA in 2013 and was busy with her baby, studies, and managing home. Through multiple iterations, Renu continued to fine-tune the process and expanded her menu in a bid to please her children’s palate. However, it was her daughter’s constant persuasion that led Renu to share her family’s treasured curry pastes. These products breath the revered aroma of ‘Home’ with pure and fresh ingredients.

Even though our journey with you begins here, in many ways, our families’ desire to venture into the food world commenced with late Mrs. Susan Kurian, Renu’s beloved mother-in-law. While our mission is to keep the young and busy generation to enjoy home-cooked meals sans the tiresome toil in the kitchen, we are equally committed to serving the forgotten communities of our society by “Going Beyond Flavours”.

Founder & Curator

Renu began her career as a stockbroker and over the years she steered her focus towards her real passion- culinary & hospitality.

Her penchant for food has taken her on an amazing journey. She is fueled by love for home-cooked food and a desire to pass on healthy eating habits picked up from previous generations. She shares her favorite recipes and love for all things delicious in her new offering Q49 Flavours. Most of her recipes have real stories around them, as all good food does.

Director

Roy Thomas Cherian started his career in 1992 at Kurian Securities Ltd as an intern and in a short span of 5 years went on to become the Head of Brokerage Operations.

In 1998 he moved to the Middle East to join the Shipping Division of the Inchape Group. After working with them for over17 years at different locations he returned to India to start his own marketing firm.

With his passion for marketing, he joined Renu after a gap of more than 20 years as a promoter director heading sales & marketing at Q49 Home Foods P Ltd. Roy is also an avid marathoner and has participated in various marathons across the country. Together with Renu, he has set his sight to take Q49 to greater heights.
